Even When Our Bones Wither
Copyright © 2006 For My Forever Best Friend

Our spirits shout when our hearts meet
Time and space separate to create an aisle
For me to meet you and you to embrace me.

Your face is a guiding light
And my innocence is restored
Even if you're down my energy brings you joy.

It was in our youth we first shared a smile
Sandboxes have permanent imprints of our
Laughing and singing out loud

The tunes of New Edition and LTD
Play on my cd
Those are songs that bring memories of
You concentrating on me.

We created games familiar only to us
You still crack on me 'cause I couldn't pronounce
Post-hu-mous
You got me cheering for the Yankees knowin' I'm a southern girl
But only for a season, I entered your world.

Transformers and Barbie were fond childhood toys
I still had my collection and you still had yours.

When no one is there to see me through
All I have to do is pick up the phone to call you.

Even though we're not a couple
You still catch my tears
When the other guys hurt me, you soothed my fears
You still share your pillow
You still hold my hand
You look in my eyes and say, “He's a foolish man.”

No matter the distance
No matter the place
Even when our bones wither
My chest cavity will have a space

For you In my heart. I love you always.
